The second-hand marketplace Users Share Frustration Over Size Modifications
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Digital Channels Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online stating that platform listings now display a different size category than originally posted because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Updates
Previously, the measurements included a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range like S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she stated.
Manual Updates
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
